5. My letters became corrupted. How come?
It could be because of a faulty setting on the character code which your website has been based on, or the character code of the browser. However, browsers generally articulate which codes they should be using by themselves.

6. Can I use files with extension code CGI or SSI?
Under no circumstances, is use of CGI or SSI accepted.
This is because the use of CGI or SSI would cause a heavy burden on the server. This burden will also de-stabilize the server if too many people made use of these files. In the interests of user satisfaction we cannot allow the use of these extensions. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation.

7. I would like to use my website commercially, can I?
Yes, FC2 Website accepts commercial websites.

Concerning the File Manager

1. I would like to create my website with tags.
You can do so by clicking the icon "<>"in the file manager.
In case you cannot find this icon, please try to change to "HTML Area" type from Account Information. Normally this should validate the icon, and lets you directly edit the tag.

2. I have saved in the file manager, but there is something wrong with the tags!
File manager is not compatible with all browsers.
If you insert tags by yourself, please make use of Text Editor or another similar application.

*This can be done by creating tag with text editor (other similar services), changing the name from "***.txt" to "***.html", and uploading the file with FTP.

3. I can neither edit nor delete files on the file manager.
Make sure you have only used alphabets or numbers in file name.
Using other characters will cause you not to be able to edit using the file manager. Please connect to FTP, and edit after changing the file name.

Concerning FTP

1.Why can't I get connected with FTP!?
The reasons below should be considered.
There might be something wrong with the setting of the FTP software. Please check each setting carefully.

URL:http://account name.web.fc2.com
Host Name:account name.web.fc2.com
User Name:Account name
Password:Please look for it in "Account Information"

2. It might also be that the server is crowded depending on when you access it. Please try again after a while.
3. It also may depend on where you access it from. If you are accessing from your company or school, access itself may be restricted due to a firewall. Please try it again from another location.

Concerning Images and Files

1. How much can be uploaded for each file?
500 kilobytes for a single file, but 2 kilobytes for txt. file.

*Uploads from the file manager will only accept 8 megabytes at maximum. If you would like to upload more, please do so with an FTP tool.

2. Which file types can be uploaded?
The accepted file formats are .html .htm .hdml .wml .gif .jpg .jpeg .css .swf .ico .csv .js .class .mel .jar .au .dor .txt .png .htaccess .htpasswd .dat .rss .rdf & .xml.
All others are not available.

*Please keep in mind that if you upload movie files such as mp3, wmv or other unaccepted extension codes, those files may be automatically deleted.

3. Can I use multibyte letters such as Chinese or Japanese characters?
Yes, but please keep in mind that the file or folder name can only accept latin letters and numbers (ie. ABCabc123 ).
If you use other characters as a name of a file or folder, edit or deletion of these files cannot be done from the file manager. Any multibyte characters can only be used inside your pages.

4. I uploaded a file a few days ago, but now it's vanished. How come?
The file might have exceeded the 500 kilobytes file allowance, or you may have used an unsupported extension code. In such cases, a file can be deleted on our discretion.

5. I would like to design my website in a way that visitors can download a file...
This can be done quite simply.
Insert the tag in the following fashion:
<A HREF="File name.jpg">File name.jpg</A>

If files cannot be downloaded by clicking, please leave a description so that visitors know to download files with [Save] from right clicking or clicking while pressing the SHIFT key.

6. Images cannot be displayed!
Perhaps it's because one of the following reasons.
1. There might be something wrong with the image file. Please make sure you have only used letters and numbers for the file name. (including the extension code)
2. Your image file might not have been properly transferred. Please make sure that the image file is located in the proper place.
3. There might be something wrong with the HTML tag. Your image file might have been sent somewhere different from where you meant it to.
